3-Day, 2-Night Hiking Journey into the Fells
Beginning at Kiilopää Fell Centre
We’ll kick things off with a relaxed brunch and a gear check, making sure everyone’s set for the journey. Before we hit the trail, we’ll share out food supplies and any group gear as you’ll be carrying a part of the food in addition to your own gear. Then it’s time to head off on our 12 km hike through scenic fell landscapes, making our way to the peaceful Rautulampi forest hut.
The terrain is pretty manageable, with a mix of uphill and downhill. If you’re in average physical condition, you’ll do just fine. Good hiking shoes are a must!
In good weather the hike will be a majestic one offering us opportunities to marvel at sceneries and relax on the way. And if it rains then consider yourself lucky, as all great soulful journeys involve a little discomfort.
We’ll be hiking on Day 1 and Day 3. Day 2 is for settling into camp life and diving into nature-connection activities.
The Destination - Rautulampi
Our camp base is a simple but scenic forest hut by the small, picturesque Rautulampi lake. It’s the perfect place to slow down and reconnect. We’ll do some simple nature-connection exercises, try out Reiki to nature, and explore how the elements around us—earth, water, air, fire—can help us feel more grounded. It’s all about tuning in, noticing how we’re part of this bigger natural world, and maybe even catching a few quiet whispers from the forest... or from yourself. In the evenings we can gather around the campfire to reflect and share moments if you want to . Or just sit in silence to admire the night sky.
Space for yourself
Feel free to also take time for yourself. The area is full of peaceful, scenic places ideal for foraging, wandering, or just taking a quiet moment for yourself.
We’ll stay in a basic but cozy wood-heated forest hut. It’s snug and shared—expect sleeping bags and a touch of closeness with your fellow hikers. If you'd prefer more space, bringing your own tent is also an option. The hut is located right by Rautulampi lake, and surrounded by small fells, making it a truly picturesque stay. No electricity and no plumbing and a back-to-nature kind of toilet: eco-friendly, no flush—just you, a wooden box, and some trusty sawdust replacing the traditional flush.

Weather
August usually offers mild and pleasant weather, but we’re in the fells—so rain and wind are always a possibility. That’s all part of the experience.
If the rain comes, welcome it as a character-building bonus—a chance to slow down, challenge your comfort zone, and maybe even bond over damp socks and shared laughter. Water isn’t the enemy—it’s the essence of life. And hey, we’re about 70% water ourselves.
Return to Kiilopää
On our final day, we’ll hike back to the Kiilopää Fell Centre along a 10–12 km route—different from the one we arrived on, offering new views and fresh perspectives.
We’ll take our time, moving at a relaxed pace, with a lunch break along the way to rest and enjoy the surroundings.
Once arriving back to Kiilopää, we’ll gather together for final circle to say thanks, share thoughts, and enjoy the last moments together.
